Marketing includes promotions, service, and advertising. Your goal as a therapist is to get clients to book an appointment with you and to become a regular customer, and to attract other potential clients through advertising, promotions and word of mouth.
There are many ways to attract potential clients and you are only limited by your imagination. Finding a successful way to market yourself and your business should fit in with your beliefs and values. Give clients the service you would expect to receive yourself and you will find the key to a rewarding and successful practise.
• Create a business plan, with a clear vision of what you want to achieve and create from your business.
• Design business cards, price lists and vouchers.
• Market research the area that you work in, to see what other therapists and salons offer in your area.
• Join a local business group. Great for networking with other business owners.
• Design a website for your business and send regular newsletters and any discount promotions you may be running.
• Get involved with your local schools etc. Give gift certificates for raffles and any fund raising activities.
Professionalism
• Always dress appropriately with clean ironed workwear. There are many companies that supply professional work tunics for the therapist.
• Always remember to wash your hands thoroughly before and after giving any treatments.
• Make sure that your working environment is always clean and tidy. Fresh towels should be used for each client. Avoid any cross contamination with products you may use.
• Set the atmosphere for your treatment with soft lighting and suitable music. Light candles (never leave a lit candle unattended), use incense or oil burners to infuse the room with a relaxing fragrance (never leave these unattended and make sure the fragrance is not too over powering for your client.
• Your room should be warm and ventilated. Clients should not be allowed to become chilled during their treatment.
